Barlinek Rus, a subsidiary of the Barlinek group, plans to realize a major investment project in Vologda Region, Russia. The project contempaltes construction of the wood-based panel plant worth EUR 80 million, reports press-centre of the local government.

The company intends to manufacture large format plywood (about 100,000 m3 per year), parquet flooring boards (2 million m2), and pellets (30,000 m3). Barlinek Rus is determined to realize this project until 2018 and to create about 500 new jobs.

The company representative reported that Barlinek Rus was going to realize this project about 7-8 years ago, but back then it was not possible due to the global economic crisis. Today, the company expresses determination to finally realize it. Moreover, as emphasized by the company, there are such contributing factors as territories rich in raw material and their geographical position in close proximity to Moscow, St. Petersburg and EU.

In the short term, the company and the local government are going to determine the allowable cut necessary for the project realization and to start negotiating with the potential raw material suppliers to sign long terms contracts.
