The ATIBT forum, which took place between the 19th and 23rd of September in Shanghai, with three days of industrial visits and 2 days of conference, was attended by 200 participants from around 30 countries.
The industrial visits gave an insight into the Chinese dynamism and were complemented by the 2 days of presentations and debates on the 22nd and 23rd of September during which the participants broached the theme of discovering the current and future Chinese market for timber products.
“If it is true that the statistics speak for themselves and are frightening in certain fields, China is becoming a lead actor in the timber network, whether it be as a consumer or even as a producer and exporter of products from raw material coming from China and from tropical countries”, says ATIBT.
The forum was followed by the ITTO International Tropical Plywood Conference in Beijing on the 26th, 27th and 28th of September 2005, co-presided by ATIBT’s president, Jean-Jacques Landrot who animated the session "The raw material supply: sustainability and accountability".
