Klaus storm brings down 50 million m3 in South-West France

The storm's epicentre was in the region of Aquitaine in the South-West of
France creating havoc in the « Landes » forest. The largest French forest
(850.000 hectares of forest) is essentially covered by maritime pine (92%).
Up to 70% of the forest has been affected by the storm. According to
unofficial figures from representatives of the industry up to 50 million m3
of storm wood could be on the ground, representing 7 years of harvest of
maritime pine & poplar, 3-4 years for…
