Russia to build 30 biofuel plants
19/03/2008 - 07:21

Russian government plans to start a biofuel production development programme from this year aiming to reach an output of two million tons by the end of the year, according to RIA Novosti. “We have a programme, we’ll implement it and we’ll make the ethanol production actually reach 2 million tons,” said Russian prime-minister Victor Zubkov. He also reminded that Russia is focusing on meeting environmental requirements for fuel. “Russia has already accepted the Euro-3 standard, and we are going to significantly advance in the biofuels,” said the head of the cabinet of ministers. He thinks biofuel offers great opportunities. Victor Zubkov also said that the biofuel programme provides for refurbishing the existing facilities and launch 30 new plants.
