Russia: sawn timber and log export up in January 2018

In January 2018, Russia increased its sawn timber exports, both in value and in volume terms, indicate the statistics published by the Russian Federal Customs Office.

Thus, during the first month of the current year Russia exported 1.18 million tonnes of sawn timber. That is 6.69% more than during the respective period of the last year.

The total value of the exported Russian sawn timber increased as well. In January 2018 it came up to $285.7 million having gone up by 26.24%.

In their turn, Russian log exports grew as well. In January 2018, Russian log exports came up to 1.39 million m3 while during the respective month of 2017 the figure equalled 1.24 million m3. Thus, Russian log exports increased by 12.67% y-o-y.

The total value of the Russian logs exported in January 2018 came up to $118.2 million, that is 21.6% more than during the respective period of 2017.
