Kronospan has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Roseburg Forest Products to acquire Roseburg’s Simsboro, Louisiana, particleboard facility.
The completion of this acquisition is contingent on customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. Upon completion, the Simsboro plant will enhance Kronospan’s wood panel production in North America.
Hans Obermaier, CEO of Kronospan’s North American operations, expressed that acquiring the Simsboro mill, along with its skilled team, will improve market efficiency and enhance customer service. Kronospan is committed to modernizing the Simsboro particleboard facility post-acquisition, leveraging its successful track record from previous acquisitions.
Roseburg President and CEO Stuart Gray sees this as positive news for the Simsboro facility's longevity and its 176 team members, emphasizing Kronospan's commitment to modernize and operate the mill.
Roseburg, deeply involved in the composites industry, continues its investments, including the recent announcement of two new composites plants in Dillard, Ore., focusing on manufacturing medium and high-density fiberboard and MDF trim for exterior applications.
